•In Pienza you can really feel the touch of the Renaissance. This small village has become Unesco World Heritage and it is famous also thanks to Pio II who determined its reconstruction in the typical stile of the 16th century. Pienza is also celebrated for the production of pecorino cheese and for its workshops.
•Our lunch can be arranged by a family-run farm that produces a very good pecorino cheese (booking is required when you ask for the tour).
Our last stop-over is Montalcino to taste the popular Brunello which has been celebrated all over the world since the 15th century. Montalcino is also interesting from an architectural point of view. Its fortress is dated back to the 13th century and it was strictly connected to Siena in the ancient times. Incredible scenery wait for you at the top of the village.
We leave directly from your location to reach Montalcino.
It is a medieval village located on a hill and completely exposed to Brunello of Montalcino vineyards. The famous formula of this incredible wine was created by Ferruccio Biondi Santi in 1888 when he decided to use only Sangiovese grapes. You can enjoy a nice walk exploring the town’s narrow winding streets filled with artisan food and wine shops, The magic of this place inspires long stroll nearby the gorgeous and multi-coloured countryside of Val d’Orcia and at the same time the desire of tasting Brunello red wine.
Montalcino is really an artistic treasure thanks to its fortress built in 1361 to mark the territory under the domination of Siena. The view is fascinating.
This is a town for the lover of wine full of little wineries long the nerrow roads.
(You can book a guided wine tasting tour into one of the wineries where Brunello of Montalcino is produced, visit the cellar with the winemaker that esplains you the process of making there Brunello).
We reach Pienza passing by the famous crete senesi. They are so unique. The scenery here is incomparable: white dirt roads, boulevards of green cypresses, typical farmhouses, yellow hills and blue skies. It is pure charm and everything here is so strictly related to the traditional country life.
Going into the medieval village of Pienza you will be astonished by the magnificence of its cathedral that is dedicated to Pio II. A lot of evocative alleys frame this little hamlet dated to the 15th century and for food lovers the real attraction is the pecorino cheese, a very typical regional specialty. You will have the chance to visit many small stores selling an accurate selection of local pecorino cheese.
Lunch time /To your liking I can show you a family-run farm immersed in the hills and with a spectacular panorama taking pictures ,here you can taste their specialties made with sheep milk. Our tour has come to an end and I sincerely hope you will bring home a piece of Tuscany.
