You will LOVE traveling to the area of Cinque Terre! This amazing tour leads us to discover the famous stretch of Ligurian coast known as Cinque Terre. In 1997 it has been declared UNESCO world heritage site. Its scenery is breathtaking, its odd and unique places are particularly recommended to all the fans of photography and the lovers of sea and fantastique views.I show you all the entire area on an escorted day tour.
We will reach the gorgeous Liguria via my comfortable 8 passenger, air conditioned van. During our route we cannot help but glance at the beautiful Alps Apuane and at the area all around Carrara, which is one of the biggest marble quarries in the world. We will arrive to our destination by crossing La Spezia the Tuscan borderline. Riomaggiore, Manarola, Vernazza, Corniglia and Monterosso al Mare are the five fishermen villages that form the Cinque Terre area. They have an incredible privileged position, perched over the sea as if they were hung between the ground and the sea.
You will marvel at the small bays and dry stone wall terraces used for growing grapevines and you will also see olive trees portray all the beauty of this enchanting place. You will enjoy sensational panoramas.
Riomaggiore is the eastern site of the Cinque Terre, where we will begin our tour with the first attraction discovering the “road of love”. This is a small path which was formed in the rock which has an incredible view over the Tyrrhenian sea. After a beautiful 20 minute walk we reach Manarola. This little village dates back to the 13th century and takes the name from a Roman temple. Here you can enjoy many points of interest like the San Lorenzo Gothic cathedral with a beautiful nave, Baroque interiors and the unmissable white bell tower that was a watching tower in the past. By taking the ferryboat to Vernazza ,we can capture Corniglia on the promontory peak (about one hundred metres high) overlooking the sea. This area has an incredible breathtaking view!!
In Vernazza you will have the sensation of being in a magical place. This little medieval hamlet has kept intact with its seafaring traditions. Many important captains and seafarers passed from here in ancient times and you can still feel its a history as you walk down its narrow roads which will take us to the Genovese Watch Tower. We will see the Santa Margherita of Antiochia Cathedral which overlooks the little harbor.
Monterosso al Mare is the western part of the Cinque Terre and is the most contemporary village. You are going to love our visit to the two churches and the ancient historical centre, with the typical trattorie with fresh sea food and pesto. You will enjoy a tasting of an excellent wine called “sciacchetrà” , which is white wine that comes from terraces around this area. Also here you have the sensation to be in paradise while viewing your surroundings. This is our last stop and it’s time to leave this charming place with this fantastique scenery. We say goodbye to the Cinque Terre and trust me when I say this will be an extraordinary memory.
